This policy explains how Release Jersey collects, uses and protects your personal data when you contact us or use our website. We are committed to handling your information responsibly and in line with Jersey law.

1. Who we are

Release Jersey (“we”, “us”, “our”) delivers boxing-based education and wellbeing programmes to schools and other settings in Jersey. We are the data controller responsible for your personal data.

2. The law we follow

We process personal data in accordance with the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 and the Data Protection Authority (Jersey) Law 2018. Our supervisory authority is the Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner (JOIC).

3. What personal data we collect

• Enquiry data — when you complete our contact form, we collect your name, email address, telephone number and the details you choose to include in your message.
• Programme data — where a school, parent or carer shares information with us to arrange or deliver a programme (for example a participant’s name, year group and any relevant additional needs). See “Children’s data” below.
• Technical data — collected automatically when you visit our site, such as IP address, device and browser type, and pages visited, via cookies and similar technologies. See “Cookies” below.

4. How and why we use your data

We use your personal data to:

• respond to your enquiry and provide information about our services — on the basis of our legitimate interests, or to take steps at your request before entering into a contract;
• deliver and administer programmes agreed with you or your school — on the basis of a contract or our legitimate interests;
• meet our safeguarding, legal and regulatory obligations — on the basis of a legal obligation or the public interest;
• understand how our website is used and measure our advertising — on the basis of your consent (for non-essential cookies) or our legitimate interests.

5. Children’s data

We work with schools and young people. Where we handle information about children, we do so only as needed to deliver and safeguard our programmes — on the instruction of the school, or with parental or carer consent — and in line with the school’s own data protection and safeguarding policies. We keep such information to a minimum and share it only with the relevant school staff.

6. Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:

• service providers who help us run our website and handle enquiries (for example our online form provider and our website host), who act as our processors under contract;
• schools or their pastoral / SEND teams, where relevant to delivering an agreed programme;
• relevant authorities or our Designated Safeguarding Lead, where required for safeguarding reasons or by law.

Some of our service providers may process data outside Jersey. Where they do, we take reasonable steps to ensure your data continues to receive an appropriate level of protection consistent with the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018.

8. How long we keep your data

We keep enquiry data only for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards. We keep programme-related data for as long as we provide the service, plus any period required by law, after which we securely delete or anonymise it.

9. Your rights

Under the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 you have the right, in certain circumstances, to: access the personal data we hold about you; have inaccurate data corrected; have your data erased; restrict or object to our processing; and receive your data in a portable format. Our website may use cookies and similar technologies, including analytics and advertising cookies (for example from Meta/Facebook or Google), to understand how the site is used and to measure our advertising.
